What is OrmanCam™?
OrmanCam™
is my "play area" here I test out
new programming techniques and technologies.
It started in 2006 with me
just trying to see if could get a camera online so I could check the house when
I was away.
While testing it friends and family use to "look-in" to see if
I was home before stopping by.
I soon found complete strangers were
watching. Not being shy I allowed it to continue.
Today OrmanCam has about 50 to 100 new
visitors a day and I've made some great friends and had some good/interesting
conversations.
Now that I am traveling I am working on making
the camera more portable. Currently I am in Estonia.
Here are some of the features:

Juke Box

I have a HUGE collection of
rare/strange soundtracks to science fiction television shows and
movies, in addition to many albums considered "SPACE AGE POP".
I have taken some of my favorites
and filled the Juke Box! |
Control TV
 |
(This
feature is currently Offline) You can watch whatever I have recorded (ala TiVo)
browse my music, picture, video libraries.
I sometimes disable this feature as it chews up a
TON of bandwidth, if I have and you want to try it just type to me in
the chat window and I'll turn it on. |
Control Light
 |
(This feature is currently
Offline) I replaced most of the light
switches and plugs with what is called "X10" modules
They allow me to
control the lights, AC, anything electrical. Again I wanted to
experiment with this technology. I now turns off lights if I forget,
turns AC if its to hot, etc.
I also have a party mode where it resets the level of all the lights in
the house for a party!
Please don't send me into an epileptic fit by turning the lights
constantly on and off! |
